As a Mechanical Engineer, you are a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional who thrives in complex environments, balancing safety, quality, budget, and efficiency while delivering infrastructure that enhances the customer experience. You lead with confidence and integrity, mentoring others and building strong relationships across departments and stakeholders. You stay calm under pressure, solve problems proactively, and align daily decisions with long-term impact, combining strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
What you will do
- Support the Deputy Director by identifying, developing, and tracking capital projects, preparing data-driven updates, and securing internal and external project approval
- Lead consultant selection and contracting, prepare RFQs and RFPs, negotiate fees, and guide consultants to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
- Oversee design and construction phases, monitor quality and progress, manage change orders and BIM deliverables, and ensure projects are safely completed, commissioned, and closed out
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders, contribute to environmental reviews, and represent projects through briefings and public presentations
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in construction, Architecture, or Engineering, with 7+ years’ experience, including 6+ years managing complex capital projects of $5M or more
- Specialized expertise in airfield facility design and construction, with working knowledge of FAA standards for pavements, lighting, signage, and related infrastructure
- Proficiency in Massachusetts public bidding laws, construction management, budgeting, and software tools including Microsoft Office and Primavera
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, supported by a valid driver’s license and experience navigating public agency project environments
