Lead Consultant (Technical Program Manager)

Apex Systems is seeking a dynamic Lead Consultant with strong consultative skills to act as a Technical Program Manager Internal Practice Consultant within our Consulting Practice as part of our Apex Systems Solutions Delivery Organization. This role is best suited for someone with a deep understanding of AWS Cloud Migrations, enterprise operating models, various project management frameworks and best practices, and risk management frameworks to support all elements of the migrations and implementations, including tools, processes and people perspectives. An ideal candidate shows a passion for mentoring, communicates clearly, and leverages tact in dealing with all levels of personnel while creating a compelling vision of the end game. This role will lead engagements, influence people, leaders and management that directly interface with and oversee migrations and implementations. The Lead Consultant will also provide subject matter expertise and will help to mentor Apex Systems’ internal Consultants in their career growth and development. This role will be responsible for meeting client deliverables and internal consulting practice contributions and leadership. This role may require some travel.

Job Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant experience as a Technical Project and Program Manager in a large organization (including all project methodologies).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field (applicable education and experience may be substituted); Master’s Degree a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of Agile Methodologies; Agile and/or Project Management certifications are preferred. AWS certifications preferred.
  • Knowledgeable with cloud concepts and AWS infrastructure. Hands-on experience with multiple on-prem to AWS Migrations. Experience driving at least one AWS project implementation end to end.
  • Strong communications and stakeholder engagement skills; experience developing communications plans, talking points, and/or presentation materials.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams and acting as liaison with customers to understand and translate requirements.
  • Expertise in PowerPoint and developing metrics from Agile tracking tools like Jira or Azure DevOps. Migration Hub Journey experience preferred.
  • Ability to create dashboards and heat maps; strong writing, presentation, and analytic thinking abilities.
  • Experience supervising and leading teams; strong interpersonal skills; able to work in team settings and independently.
  • Leadership, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish strong relationships with clients and technical communities; represent Apex Systems at industry events and maintain robust client relationships.
  • Lead engagements, manage risk, and oversee migrations and implementations; mentor internal consultants.
  • Develop engagement roadmaps and reporting; ensure deliverables align with the Statement of Work and ensure exceptional delivery.
  • Lead AWS cloud migration initiatives with emphasis on risk identification and mitigation; maintain RAID and Risk Logs; proactive dependency and escalation management.
  • Oversee delivery planning, manage project risks, prepare documentation, and support team development.
  • Develop project plans, manage resources and budget; implement intake processes and prioritization.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement, manage work sequences and dependencies across teams to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Lead and mentor team members; ensure high-quality deliverables and timely engagement completion.
  • Develop and track metrics (OKRs, KPIs); create workflows, dashboards, and status reports for clients.
  • Support ad-hoc reporting and materials for managers; collaborate with Executives on funding and intake process adjustments.
  • Promote continuous improvement and value delivery; participate in pre-sales activities by providing strategic guidance and scoping.
  • Provide executive-level communication and presentation; adapt to meet business needs.
