The Texas Workforce Commission is seeking a Deputy Division Director for the Workforce Development Education & Outreach Department in the Workforce Development Division, located at 1117 Trinity St. Austin, Texas.
This Director III position will be responsible for supporting the development and oversight of a statewide, market-driven system of employment and training services. The Deputy Director reports to the Director of the Workforce Development Division and will report to the office fulltime.

What You Will Do
You will lead a talented team of outreach professionals within the Workforce Education & Outreach Department. The team engages with Texas businesses, workforce partners, and communities to market and educate stakeholders on the programs, career pathways, and funding opportunities available through the agency to encourage the Texas workforce's education, training, and growth. You will provide management, direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning for, Apprenticeship, Adult Education and Literacy, Tri-Agency & Special Projects, Employer Engagement & Community Outreach, and the Texas Veterans Leadership Program.
You will support and develop your team, ensuring they have the tools and skills to succeed. You will assist in crafting and implementing policy, strategic plans, budgets, processes, and procedures. You will oversee complex projects and review complicated proposals and contracts. You will set priorities, flex your creative problem-solving muscles, serve as an ambassador for the programs you lead, notice minor details that have a significant impact, and enjoy the moments when the plan comes together. You will perform highly advanced (senior-level) managerial work providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning. Work under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
You Qualify With
- Six years of full-time experience in the oversight and direction of an agency program; or in strategic planning and policy development and implementation, three years of which must have been in an administrative management or supervisory capacity.
- Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.
- Experience with program planning and policy implementation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience managing complex projects.
- Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and coordination skills.
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in a relative field.
- Regulatory Expertise: Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations, business/management principles, and public administration practices.
- Strategic Planning & Problem Solving: Skill in strategic planning, objective setting, risk assessment, decision-making, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving.
- Leadership & Management: Ability to direct program activities, establish strategic goals, identify/solve problems, develop policies, communicate effectively, and supervise others.
