Peer Counselor

Location: North Seattle, 13555 Aurora Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98133

Salary: $28.00 Hourly

Shift: 7:00–3:30 pm or 8:00–4:30 pm, Monday–Friday

What You'll Do

  • Help clients identify and work toward wellness goals, encouraging personal responsibility for recovery.
  • Encourage clients to develop natural social support by engaging with the community.
  • Adhere to the Harm Reduction Model, treating all individuals with respect, compassion, and dignity.
  • Provide outreach, engagement, and ongoing support as a member of the treatment team.
  • Use personal recovery experience to offer guidance to clients and families.
  • Assist counselors/case managers in assessment and development of individual therapeutic plans.
  • Crisis stabilization, including suicide watch and monitoring risk.
  • Advocate for clients and coordinate referrals with community agencies.
  • Maintain working relationships with community and government agencies and other professionals.
  • Provide consultation and education services to partner organizations.
  • Monitor neighborhood center activities.
  • Perform front‑desk reception duties as needed.
  • Support the mission with all other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Certification in Peer Counseling (required).
  • Experience in social services or substance use disorder treatment (preferred; OTP experience preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of substance use treatment and counseling.
  • Computer literate; basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse client population.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Conduct all business activities in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain current testing, screening, and credentialing as required.
  • Valid WA State driver’s license (other vehicle preferred). Ability to travel as needed (minimal).
  • Evening, weekend, and some Saturday hours may be required.
