Overview
A senior-level consultant is often engaged as the technical primary project lead and architect. This seasoned consultant should have a track record of strong leadership, professional business acumen, polished oral and written communication, documentation and presentation skills. He/she should be well-rounded and adept at leading consultative engagements, assessing network environments, and architecting designs for data center and network solutions, and creating meaningful, cohesive deliverables.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
An AT&T Lead Consultant is expected to become accustomed to and follow an established, repeatable methodology, leverage appropriate templates, actively participate in or facilitate status meetings, report status, and attend other required project meetings, including lessons learned meetings, complete all administration, reports and mandatory compliance training on time and as directed. The Sr. Consultant will also stay abreast of the latest marketing trends or chief concerns in their profession and participate in National Practice operations, process improvement and training calls, and take accountability for their own professional development and career growth, as well as sharing knowledge with others.
- Collaborate, confer and provide consulting services and manage project activities from client identification through final invoicing.
- Work on billable consulting service projects.
- Demonstrate broad product knowledge with the customer within a specific discipline.
- Work independently on highly complex projects, or may work in a team as assigned by the project leader.
- Technical responsibilities include problem identification, system architecture definition, hardware/software specification and/or design, implementation, testing, client training, and deployment.
- Lead all technical aspects of delivery, customer satisfaction, and accurate timekeeping for billing purposes, on projects where the Consultant is the only technical resource or lead technical resource.
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of principles, theories and concepts in the applicable discipline, plus high-level working knowledge in other related fields. May assist less experienced peers when needed.
- Work is performed under minimal direction.
- Design and implement solutions for clients as a member of a team of advanced infrastructure consultants and lead consultants.
- Consulting project activities from client identification through final invoicing and fulfill billable consulting service projects.
- Act as the subject matter expert within a specific discipline and typically lead an engagement team, or may be the sole consulting resource on a project.
- Mentor or coach others and create recommendations to implement new methods, techniques and/or procedures.
Qualifications
AT&T Consulting expects a candidate to contribute as follows:
- 10+ years of experience in planning, design and implementation of complex networks as part of a large enterprise network team, or within professional services or network integration environments.
- Planning, design and integration of secure network technology.
- Positive, energetic attitude and a serious desire to impact the company and industry.
- Ability to develop Visio designs/diagrams and deliver professional, cohesive documentation. Sample deliverables may be requested as evidence of documentation skills.
- Verifiable strong ethics, trustworthiness, accountability and reliability in being resourceful with leadership and collaborative teamwork.
Technical Skills
- Thorough understanding of internetworking technologies and deployment in complex, global networks. IPv4 and IPv6 experience.
- WAN and iWAN expertise β Transport and Access Planning, Design and Deployment Experience
- Experience in analysis and selection of transport and access technologies including MPLS, Private Line, Hybrid WAN, Internet Complex, Ethernet, Internet VPN, DWDM, and wireless.
- MPLS integration including MPLS equipment & transport selection, QoS, MPLS IP Routing and MPLS migration planning/transition
- LAN expertise β Planning, Design and Deployment Experience
- Experience in equipment selection, sizing and detailed engineered design
- Data center expertise including core, distribution and segmentation
- Wireless equipment selection, sizing and detailed engineered design
- Layer 2 vs Layer 3 segmentation
- Virtualization using path segmentation (GRE, VRF-Lite, L3VPNs, L2VPNs)
- IP routing β Planning, Design & Deployment Experience
- IP Routing Protocols β OSPF, BGP, M-BGP, EIGRP
- IP Addressing β NAT, DNS/DHCP, Address Summarization as it impacts IP addressing and IP routing
- Data Center Expertise β DC Core Network Planning, Design and Deployment Experience
- Experience with DC core networks built on legacy and fabric-enabled architectures
- Load Balancing, DNS/DHCP, NAT, WANx and Proxies
- Separation and segmentation technologies (VLAN, VRF)
- Network virtualization technologies
- SDN technologies (e.g., Cisco ACI) and related skills
- Experience with Cisco, Nortel, Juniper, Extreme Networks hardware and configurations
- Firewall design and deployment (Cisco ASA, CheckPoint, Fortinet, etc.)
- Understanding of load-balancing; F5 experience is a plus
- Knowledge of SDN, Juniper, Velocloud, VMware/Virtualization, and/or IoT is a plus
Required Skills
- Bachelorβs degree
- Industry Certifications CCIE, or demonstrated equivalent experience with CCNA, CCNP or CISSP
- Strong leadership, documentation and project management skills
- Ability to lead, coordinate complex networking engagements for very large environments
- Ability to travel for engagement requirements
Compensation and Benefits
Lead Consultant ATC earns between $120,200 - $201,800 + $30,000 in commissions yearly if all sales goals are met. Other rewards include health insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, and employee discounts. The starting salary varies by geography, experience, and education/training.
