JOB TITLE: Workday Student Cross-Functional Lead

FLSA STATUS : Casual Worker (24 months)

POSITION SUMMARY

The Cross-Functional Lead for our Workday Student implementation project offers leadership and extensive subject matter expertise in Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts. This role involves close collaboration with Registrar, Academic Record, and Advising teams to ensure business process alignment, coordinated cross-workstream efforts, and institutional readiness throughout all project phases. The ideal candidate will have deep functional knowledge and hands-on experience in Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts operations. Practical Workday Student implementation experience and Workday skills in related business functions are essential. Critical aspects of this role are analytical mindset and forward systems-thinking.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Cross-Functional Leadership: Coordinates and actively participates in activities across Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Financials workstreams, while also influencing decisions related to Student Records, Academic Foundation, and Advising. Facilitates the alignment of shared data elements and business processes, and serves as a key liaison between functional leads, the PMO, and the implementation partner (Alchemy).
• Functional Expertise: Applies deep knowledge of Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts, complemented by a broad understanding of Registrar, Academic Records, and related academic functions. Validates functional configurations, workbook assignments, and ensures data consistency.
• Testing and Data Validation: Leads and participates in comprehensive cross-functional testing activities, including lifecycle, end-to-end, and regression testing. Actively participates in and ensures the quality control of tenants and data validation, identifying issues and managing their resolution.
• Training and Change Enablement: Supports Change Management, functional teams, and the PMO in delivering user training and readiness workshops. Mentors functional team members, facilitates knowledge transfer, and develops essential user guides or job aids.
• Project Delivery and Collaboration: Partners with the PMO to track deliverables, monitor progress, identify gaps and issues, and effectively escalate risks. Collaborates closely with stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and actively participates in project leadership meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum 7-10 years of functional experience in higher education student systems and operations. Minimum 3-5 years of Workday Student implementation experience, preferably as a functional or cross-functional lead role.
• Proven expertise in Enrollment Management, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts with familiarity across Registrar, Records, and Academic functions systems (e.g., Slate, Banner, Workday). Demonstrated knowledge in developing and validating workbooks, data validation, end-to-end, and regression testing.
• Skills & Competencies: Strong understanding of the student lifecycle and data relationships across a typical Student Information System (SIS). Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and influence cross-functional teams in defining forward-thinking business processes and user experience.
• Excellent analytical, facilitation, and problem-solving skills . Clear communicator with excellent documentation and presentation abilities. Proficient in Workday Students, Smartsheet, or other project management tools and collaboration platforms.
