The Opportunity

A leading global investment firm—recognized for combining financial research with cutting-edge technology—is hiring a Software Engineer (VP level) to join its front-office engineering group. This team builds the data and technology platforms that power research and investment strategies used across the firm. The environment is highly technical, collaborative, and driven by innovation, offering exposure to large-scale data systems, cloud architecture, and advanced analytics.

The Team

You’ll be part of a specialized engineering group that works closely with researchers and portfolio managers to design and implement systems supporting complex, tax-aware, and customized investment strategies. The team operates at the crossroads of software engineering, data infrastructure, and applied quantitative research—building scalable, production-ready tools that drive investment decision-making.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build high-performance data and service platforms that support millions of data points
• Develop APIs, automation tools, and research environments used across multiple investment teams
• Create and maintain scalable infrastructure leveraging cloud computing, distributed systems, and microservices
• Build backtesting and simulation frameworks to validate new products and strategies
• Contribute to AI-driven applications that enhance engineering productivity and data analysis

This is a hybrid position (2–3 days onsite per week) at the firm’s Connecticut headquarters.

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on Python, NumPy, and pandas (or similar quantitative stack)
• Strong SQL skills (SQL Server or PostgreSQL preferred)
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software architecture
• Experience with distributed computing, containers, and cloud-based systems
• Familiarity with AI tools or frameworks that enhance engineering workflows
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical work into business impact
• Exposure to or interest in quantitative finance is a plus

Compensation

Base salary in the range of $200K–$250K, plus discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package (medical, 401k, PTO, etc.).
