The Chief Financial Officer position is accountable for the financial and risk management operations of the organization, which includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will need exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders and to translate financial data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
  • Manage the capital expenditures and budgeting processes
  • Develop performance measures that support the company’s strategic direction
  • Ensure compliance with financial, regulatory and legal requirements and FCC reporting
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all Investment-Related matters
  • Liaise with both VPM Board and Virginia Foundation For Public Media Board of Directors
  • Monitor cash flow and the portfolio position
  • Primary responsibility for annual audits
  • Full participation in pledge and other corporate needs

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business
  • Minimum 10 years of business management experience
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and overall financial management
  • Significant experience in the non-profit sector, with financial leadership responsibility for P&L of $25 million or more
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with executive management and Board of Directors
  • Demonstrated understanding of investments
  • In-depth knowledge of 501(c)(3) regulations and FCC rules
  • Experience with multiple-entity organization and diverse revenue streams
  • Knowledge of public media regulatory requirements
  • Preferred : Experience in a public media organization, member station, station group, or related board / partnership activities
