About this role: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented professional to join our dynamic team. The role involves assessing, evaluating, and underwriting insurance contracts and policies, analyzing risk factors, reviewing terms, and making informed decisions on coverage and pricing. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in insurance underwriting and regulatory understanding.

Compensation

Hinterland Insurance provided pay range: This range is provided by Hinterland Insurance. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range: $80,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

• Perform underwriting analysis for commercial lines business.
• Quote and rate business in internal underwriting management systems and carrier contract binding platforms.
• Assess insurance contract applications and policies to evaluate risk factors, coverage requirements, and insurability.
• Analyze potential risks considering claims history, loss ratios, industry trends, and market conditions.
• Review contract terms, conditions, and endorsements to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory standards.
• Develop and establish premium rates based on risk evaluation; determine coverage limits and deductibles.
• Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines aligned with industry best practices and company objectives.
• Collaborate with brokers, agents, and stakeholders to gather information, negotiate terms, and resolve underwriting issues.
• Maintain accurate records of underwriting decisions and endorsements; generate and communicate decisions to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial underwriting.
• Proven experience as an underwriter or in a similar role within the insurance industry.
• Must have property and casualty license.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make informed decisions.
• Solid knowledge of insurance policies, contracts, and industry regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
• Proficient in using underwriting software and related tools.
