Overview
VHB's Mid‑Atlantic Geomatics Team is seeking a Geomatics Director to lead its dynamic group serving Virginia and District of Columbia. This position is responsible for overall program and project management, and the performance of the Survey/Geomatics team across these locations. The role serves as a key conduit between regional leadership and technical staff—providing hands‑on oversight of project standards, technical execution, and program development, while driving business growth, ensuring client satisfaction, and upholding quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and support service line strategies and initiatives that align with VHB's strategic plan and regional business planning.
- Align service offerings to VHB's market requirements.
- Collaborate with regional leadership to identify and provide new services or skills.
- Develop growth plans, identifying market opportunities and strategies, such as key hires and the development of business opportunities, while meeting the expectations of internal stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of available technologies within the Geomatics team.
- Identify and deploy leading‑edge work processes, technologies, and applications to execute projects more effectively and better serve clients.
- Develop client solutions benefiting from advancements and applications of data and technologies.
- Work with leadership groups to develop and implement consistent work processes and standards.
- Work with discipline groups to develop and implement quality plans.
- Review client and quality audit feedback and develop plans to implement best practices across the region.
- Create project plans, identify, and organize resources, and successfully execute projects to completion.
- Develop, monitor, and maintain project budgets, scopes, and schedules.
- Promote work sharing across offices and advise on deployment of staff on major projects and pursuits.
- Manage a team of Geomatics professionals; carry out supervisory responsibilities including hiring, training, performance evaluation, reward & discipline, coaching, and problem resolution.
- Participate in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.

- Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience managing Survey/Geomatics projects, including 10+ years of client, staff, and project management.
- BS in Survey Engineering, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, Reality Capture, or related field.
- VA Land Surveyor license required.
