Vice President Of Student Services And Equity

Ohlone College is seeking a Vice President of Student Services and Equity who is an experienced leader laser-focused on student access, equity, and success. The candidate believes in continuous quality improvement and is committed to leading in an equitable and culturally competent learning environment. The Vice President of Student Services and Equity works closely and collaboratively with the Vice President of Academic Affairs as well as other members of the executive team to create a supportive, cohesive, and integrated teaching and learning environment for students and staff. The Vice President of Student Services and Equity will work collaboratively with equity committees and student services to advance a collective vision for equity, inclusion, and diversity. The Vice President of Student Services and Equity envisions, plans, coordinates, administers, and evaluates support programs, services, and resources for students. The Vice President provides leadership to managers, faculty, and classified staff in all areas of student services. Areas of responsibility include but not limited to :

The Vice President is an active participant in college‑wide governance committees and provides overall vision for Student Services.

Duties and responsibilities include :

  • Serve as the chief advisor to the President on strategic matters related to student services and other key administrative concerns and keeps the President informed at all times.
  • Provide direction and leadership to all academic and classified staff assigned to student services functions, programs, operations, and activities.
  • Collaborate with appropriate campus constituencies in key areas to build upon equity‑based initiatives, conversations, professional development, and institutionalization of equity, inclusivity, and diversity.
  • Formulate, develop, implement, and review a broad variety of policies, standards, and outcomes to assure that students are afforded optimum support services while pursuing academic and vocational fields of study.
  • Serve as a member of the President / Superintendent's executive team and participate in establishing and achieving institutional goals in accordance with the District's strategic plan, including the District's equity plan.
  • Serve on Executive Committee for Equity, Inclusivity and Campus Diversity, which will be charged with developing strategies, policies, and programs to advance DEI and foster a more inclusive and anti‑racist culture within the College.
  • Ensures compliance with all statistical and narrative reporting requirements, including data collection, database management, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Assure optimum services to students in all areas of student life, including enrollment services, counseling, financial aid, student government and activities, health center, Student Accessibility Services (SAS), Extended Opportunities Programs and Services (EOPS), Transfer Center, Assessment, International Programs and Services, and other assigned areas.
  • In a quality and service‑oriented environment, supervise and evaluate the performance of administrators and supervisors responsible for administration and implementation of student support services; promote an environment of trust, cooperation, and mutual effort to foster the success and achievement of students.
  • Confer with District administrators and others regarding management issues involving student services and programs of the District including the Student Equity and Achievement Plan recommendations for new or revised policies and procedures in order to assure that all areas of student services interface effectively and are appropriately integrated with the instructional program.
  • Work closely with academic staff to develop, modify, and enhance student services; review and evaluate existing programs and promote expansion of services to meet the diverse needs of Ohlone College students including new, transfer, re‑entry, and students transitioning from high school to college.
  • Serve as the President / Superintendent's designee for student code of conduct and discipline and related policies; promote the resolution of disciplinary issues through the District's internal process; assure the fair, consistent and objective enforcement of policies, procedures, and regulations governing student conduct.
  • Represent the District to local, state, and federal governmental bodies and agencies involved in providing benefits, resources, services, and programs for community college students; when requested, represent the District to the community including other educational institutions, business interests, and service organizations.
  • Assure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, codes, rules, and restrictions related to assigned student support services, programs, and activities; assure that the highest legal and ethical standards are maintained and clearly communicated to subordinate personnel.
  • Review and evaluate effectiveness of key personnel, programs, and services; assure development and implementation of supplemental programs and services which are efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of students; recommend operational changes and improvements as appropriate.
  • Direct the efforts and activities of assigned committees, task forces, and work groups; delegate responsibility to subordinates for representing the District's interests in the local community and at state or national meetings; review and evaluate information, factual summaries and recommendations from work groups and team leaders.
  • Work collaboratively with IT Services in adopting and using systems and tools to effectively and efficiently improve processes and procedures affecting the delivery of student services and other related programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Academic Affairs in developing the college catalog and schedule of classes and direct planning for college graduation ceremonies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President / Superintendent.

Knowledge of :

  • The complexity and multiple dimensions of diversity, inclusion, and equity, including but not limited to age, class, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual identity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the creation and delivery of campus‑wide and community‑wide diversity, inclusion, and intercultural competency training programs.

Minimum qualifications :

  • Possession of a Master's degree; AND
  • One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment; AND
  • Commitment to community college goals / objectives of being an equity-based and anti‑racist institution, and providing quality programs and
