Director – Specialty Pharmacy Business Development and Operations
This role will be a key member of the PDS pharmacy leadership team and serves as a trusted advisor to the Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) for Specialty Pharmacy services. The incumbent will lead and own the enterprise-wide strategy development and execution for Specialty Pharmacy initiatives, drive operational excellence, ensure follow-through on key priorities, and foster cross‑functional collaboration at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities
- Partner with the CPO to design, develop, and implement the Specialty Pharmacy strategy, ensuring alignment with financial, quality, and clinical targets.
- Own Specialty Pharmacy operations and results, focusing on mission, growth plans, payer network expansion, and limited distribution drug access.
- Operationalize, drive accountability, and track strategic initiatives, including management process standardization, timelines, and resources across hospitals, medical groups, and quality teams.
- Own budget, key performance indicators, and provide briefings and status updates to inform decisions for the CPO and broader enterprise leadership.
- Achieve financial targets, drive growth, operational excellence, accreditation, and regulatory compliance.
- Engage CPO and other executives, fostering a high‑performance culture and alignment across PDS, PHP, and PMG teams.
- Collaborate with PMG and clinical leadership to ensure seamless specialty pharmacy experience for providers, patients, and stakeholders.
- Engage payers, providers, manufacturers, and other key vendors to drive favorable performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or PharmD in pharmacy (required).
- Active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy license (required).
- 5+ years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience.
- Experience with pharmacy budgeting, strategy development, and execution.
- Experience in specialty, retail, PBM, health plan, or managed care (preferred).
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic mindset with systems‑thinking approach to healthcare transformation.
- Strong leadership behaviors with demonstrated business & financial acumen, proactive, resourceful, and solutions‑oriented, capable of driving complex implementations.
- Deep understanding of specialty pharmacy operations, business development, financial drivers, and accreditation requirements.
- Knowledge of agile or lean methodologies, data analysis, and change management to drive efficiency and scalability.
