Summary

A dynamic small business is seeking a seasoned Networking & Systems Engineer to join its team. This role involves both client-facing responsibilities and behind-the-scenes technical work. It’s a hands‑on opportunity to contribute meaningfully, grow professionally, and be a trusted resource for colleagues and clients alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead execution of IT projects and client onboarding.
• Manage cloud-based services and offerings.
• Oversee client systems and remote monitoring tools (RMM).
• Administer and maintain VMware infrastructure.
• Provide escalation support for HelpDesk issues.
• Implement systems and infrastructure on client premises.
• Serve as a general engineering resource across the organization.
• Document all network changes and implementations thoroughly.
• Analyze recurring issues and resolve complex network problems.

Core Competencies

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Deep knowledge of virtual environments, especially VMware and SAN deployment.
• Solid understanding of networking principles and protocols.
• Detail‑oriented with excellent documentation habits.
• Proficient in Windows Server environments, including Exchange, MDM, and security.
• Team‑oriented with a proactive mindset.
• Must have a valid driver’s license or access to a vehicle.

Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Cisco CCNP certification preferred.
• Experience with Cisco Nexus/NX‑OS switches, IOS routers, ASA firewalls.
• Familiarity with BGP, VRF, VLANs, and multi‑site network redundancy.
• Knowledge of SAN, iSCSI, NFS, and NetApp FAS storage.
• Hands‑on experience with complex Cisco WAN configurations.
• VMware certifications (VCP or VCAP preferred); experience with vSphere HA, DRS, vDS, autodeploy.
• Strong background in Windows Server (2008/2012) and Microsoft Exchange (2007/2010/2013).
• Microsoft Certified Professional status (MCSE or MCITP preferred).
• Experience supporting Mac environments is a plus.
