A leading self‑perform California‑based clean energy provider delivering turnkey solar, battery storage solutions is looking for a detail‑oriented and results‑driven Senior Solar & BESS Design Engineer . The role involves designing photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage systems for commercial and industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments to evaluate solar and ESS feasibility.
• Gather structural, electrical, and site data to support system design.
• Develop technical design specifications and documentation for PV and ESS projects.
• Prepare detailed electrical and physical designs including site plans, single‑line diagrams (SLDs), conduit and wiring layouts, grounding, and interconnection packages.
• Perform system modeling, yield analysis, and load studies using design software.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, UL, IEEE, etc.).
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including utilities and permitting agencies.
• Support interconnection, permitting, construction, and commissioning processes.
• Maintain accurate design records and contribute to the improvement of design standards and workflows.
• Lead and mentor drafting teams, maintaining CAD standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (or equivalent), PVSyst, and one‑line diagram development.
• Experience with energy storage integration and inverter systems.
• Knowledge of utility interconnection requirements and industry codes.
• Strong communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
• EIT and/or NABCEP certification preferred.
