Title: Construction Inspector

Reporting to: Office Director or Senior Project Manager

Salary Range: $54,400 - $86,500

Overview: The Construction Inspector will be responsible for conducting and documenting inspections, verifying compliance with project specifications and industry standards, and collaborating with project teams to ensure the successful completion of construction projects.

Essential Functions

  • Act as liaison with clients, assisting with project‑related inspection outcome decisions.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the construction inspection functions through all phases of a project—Preconstruction to Closeout—to ensure contract compliance.
  • Preconstruction: review design and schedule management, constructability review, budget development, contract administration, construction bidding and planning, permitting strategy.
  • Construction: manage contractor operations, procurement, risk management, quality assurance, safety, and overall project execution.
  • Closeout: provide inspection documentation that meets project specifications.
  • Inspect projects during various construction stages to ensure contractor compliance with plans, specifications, applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Manage quality of materials used and labor personnel.
  • Observe and record on‑site construction activities and compliance.
  • Read and interpret plans, specifications, maps, and contract documents.
  • Enter inspection details into the computer system, prepare daily, photo, monthly reports and logs.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, developers, and staff.
  • Implement BMP inspections, ensuring contractors maintain BMP reports, training logs, permits, and updates.
  • Understand current schedules, identify delays or discrepancies, and communicate concerns.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively to support team performance.
  • Identify opportunities to add value to client desired project outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in construction management or construction inspection, or a bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3‑5 years of experience spanning a variety of building types and construction inspections through all construction phases.
  • Relevant certifications such as IIBEC, ACI, ICC, OSHA, USACE, or equivalent.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong problem‑solving, numeracy, and financial management skills.
  • Ability to write clear and precise reports and communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Work in outdoor environments; use computers and standard office equipment.
  • Perform on‑site activities including ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Occupational tasks: sitting, standing for long periods, walking, carrying, pushing, stooping, crouching, pulling.
