Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector has an opening for a Test & Evaluation (T&E) Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead Aeronautical Engineer position to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be primarily located in Rancho Bernardo (San Diego, CA), with expected travel to domestic and international test and operational locations, respectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a large, regionally dispersed team of testers in the execution of unmanned systems T&E across production, sustainment, and developmental contractual statements of work (SOW).
  • Advise management and provide engineering guidance to test and operational efforts to include: ensuring schedule and performance targets are achievable, assess and assign talent to specific test events, develop and review training curriculum to advance our workforce capacity.
  • Be generally responsible for the technical outcomes for T&E programs across SOWs in Rancho Bernardo, CA System Integration Labs (SIL); Palmdale, CA Production Test; NAS Patuxent River, MD Developmental Flight Test; coordinating with cross-IPT technical experts in support Field Service Representative (FSR) training and deployment across various international and domestic locations.
  • Participate in, oversee, and transition capabilities through formal lab test, ground and flight test, and into operations, organizing personnel, test planning, equipment, processes, scheduling, tools, aircraft and control segment modifications, laboratories (Infrastructure & Operations), and proposal activities.
  • Interface with FSRs across time zones and communicate timely guidance to those on domestic and international assignments in support of United States Navy maritime operations.

Qualifications

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree of science in a STEM discipline with 14 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of related professional/military experience OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 10 years of related professional/military experience.
    • Flight, ground, and SIL T&E experience as an individual contributor or manager of technical scope.
    • Experience generating technical documents and working with software/data processing tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other programming languages.
    • Experience developing and executing test plans in lab or flight test environments.
    • Understanding of common test engineering methodologies and practices.
    • Active DoD Secret clearance with full investigation within the last 6 years and ability to obtain/maintain Top-Secret/SCI clearance within a reasonable time.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Top Secret Security Clearance
    • Experience in Unmanned Systems Test & Evaluation
    • Master’s Degree in Technical Field (STEM)
    • Experience in weapon systems production operations or retrofit/modifications, maintenance, and acceptance testing
    • Experience participating in or managing International and/or Domestic Assignments

Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $188,200.00 - $282,200.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
