Job Overview

L3Harris Technologies is looking for a dynamic, hands‑on leader for its software team. This position is responsible for managing a team of about 10‑15 software engineers and overseeing software solutions for all branches of the military as well as the intelligence community. The role contributes directly to the security of the nation. It reports to a Senior Manager in the Software Engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Execute software development in a cost‑effective and time‑efficient manner.
• Report directly to a Senior Manager in the Software organization.
• Account for both L3Harris internal and external customers on cost and schedule performance on programs, IRADs, and internal orders.
• Manage engineering overhead funds and efforts with a focus on contributions to the direct labor base.
• Coordinate and provide senior review of bid and proposal efforts for all related technology design and development efforts.
• Manage relationships with external hardware and software vendors.
• Engage in technical and programmatic discussions with customers, ensuring expectations are understood and managed.
• Contribute to new business pursuits by growing cross‑functional relationships in new business development and across business areas.
• Mentor and motivate staff and engineers in a professional engineering environment and grow group leadership talent.
• Hire qualified staff.
• Provide technical training to staff members and advance the state‑of‑the‑art technology through appropriate industry interaction and continued education of technical staff.
• Contribute to the development of new and innovative technologies and processes, including idea submission for internal research and development (IRAD) investments and execution of funded IRAD and internal order projects.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of strategic plans and technology development roadmaps for networking.
• Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CS, CE, or equivalent, and at least 9 years of relevant experience; or graduate degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience; or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience.

• Strong background in software development with experience using open‑source Linux development.
