Overview

A member of the Executive Director’s Senior Leadership Team and the PossAbilities Management Team, the Chief Financial Officer’s (CFO) goal is to provide strategic leadership and oversight of financial and asset management operations. The CFO establishes financial strategy, ensures efficient and compliant financial systems, oversees financial operations and reporting, and leads technology planning to maintain secure and responsive infrastructure. The CFO is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial management and strategy of the organization to achieve its financial and mission impact returns.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Team, contributing to strategic planning, decision-making and organizational development.
  • The CFO is responsible for the effective oversight and management of financial operations including payroll, billing, receivables, payables, asset oversight, insurance, reporting, benefits, ACA, retirement plan, budgeting, audits, purchasing, and contract compliance.
  • Lead the Financial Team in setting and meeting outcomes aligned with the organizational mission – ensure alignment of team goals with organizational priorities and promote cross-training and collaboration
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within and across teams
  • Supervise Fiscal staff, including accountability, performance appraisals, coaching, required training, development, recognition, oversight, and mentoring.
  • Maintain that fiscal practices are compliant with GAAP, federal and state laws and regulations, local and Agency policies, procedures and contract terms.
  • Assure segregation of duties and appropriate internal controls.
  • Oversee annual audits, tax filings, government reporting and grant compliance, ensuring accountability and transparency.
  • Lead the annual operating and capital budget process with the Executive Team. Provide budget managers with timely, accurate financial reports and analysis.
  • Interface and manage relationships with financial institutions, corporate entities, donors, service vendors, county, and other government departments regarding financial matters
  • Act as staff liaison to the Finance and Investment Committees
  • Mentor and empower staff, foster accountability, lead through change, and build a strong culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in financial management
  • Five to ten (5-10) years of experience in senior level management and supervision in finance or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and expertise in financial systems, reporting, budgeting, scenario modeling, forecasting, and strategic planning
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, problem solving, and complex thinking skills.
  • Skilled communicator who translates complex financial concepts into accessible insights for decision-making
  • Forward-thinking leadership with excellent interpersonal and guidance skills and the ability to guide organizations through growth and transformation
  • Knowledge of required fiscal reporting including 941, 990, ACA, unemployment, W-2, W-4, 1099, non-profit state reporting.
  • Computer proficient including Excel, MS Office, accounting software. Financial Edge NXT experience a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for advancing systems change as well as justice, equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, and desire to center these goals in financial management and continuous improvement activities.
  • Ability to develop policies and procedures, do trend analysis, identify gaps and needed solutions. Willingness to learn the Disability Waiver Rate System (DWRS) as an MHCP provider.
