Summary

The Dentist (Endodontist) serves as a practicing dentist who performs a full range of professional dental procedures within the scope of endodontics specialty for the Albuquerque VA – Raymond G. Murphy Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center – New Mexico Health Care System, located in Albuquerque, NM.

Responsibilities & Compensation

• Make oral and radiographic examinations of the oral cavity.
• Diagnose pathological or irregular oral conditions.
• Administer local anesthesia.
• Perform routine and complex endodontic procedures.
• Perform simple and complex endodontic surgical procedures.
• Perform root-end fillings.
• Perform temporary restorations of teeth.
• Place posts and cores on teeth, as indicated.
• Other associated dental procedures consistent with the scope performed by an Endodontist in the community.
• Review CT scan pertinent to endodontic assessment as indicated.
• Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 0700 – 1530 (Telework: Not available; Virtual: This is not a virtual position).
• Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Highly qualified individuals may be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive in accordance with agency policy.
• Service agreement required.
• Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases.
• Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and possible 5 days paid absence for CME).
• Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401(k) with up to 5% contribution by VA.
• Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care.
• Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
• CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification).
• Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided.
• Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
