Global Compliance Assurance Specialist, Privacy and Security

This role may also be located in our Playa Vista, CA campus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in compliance, risk management, investigation, auditing, legal, or consulting.
  • Experience with program management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • J.D., CIPP/US, or other privacy or compliance certification.
  • Experience organizing data and applying business context to improve processes or operations.
  • Experience supporting organizations under regulatory settlements or consent decrees (e.g., FTC, SEC, CFPB).
  • Familiarity with compliance regulations such as GDPR, SOX, ISO, FedRAMP, etc.

About the Job

The Google Compliance team ensures that our business is always consistent with current financial regulations. As part of this team, you proactively identify pain points and gaps in existing policy frameworks and find innovative solutions. You develop efficient compliance systems and work with teams to implement them across the organization, ensuring that as Google pursues its next big idea, we maintain rigorous compliance.

The newly formed Risk, Compliance and Integrity organization (RCI) brings together critical compliance, assurance, risk, and governance functions across Google to help the company meet compliance needs and enable our businesses to innovate. The goal is to make compliance an engaging advantage for Google by driving scaled, data‑driven, and policy‑based compliance programs. Operations are managed through risk‑based prioritization and governance, with consistent and constructive regulator engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, oversee, and manage compliance with Google’s obligations, including internal and external audits, documentation and reporting, and risk mitigation/management activities.
  • Oversee periodic testing and program evaluations, ensuring consistency with Google’s obligations and overseeing documentation and testing of controls, training, governance, and internal escalation protocols related to Google’s compliance commitments.
  • Collaborate with PSS and cross‑functional teams to ensure that new product launches and updates undergo appropriate privacy reviews and documentation.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ensuring program assessment requirements consistently align with Google’s compliance commitments.
