Experience Manager (EM)
Ulta Beauty is seeking an Experience Manager to lead the mission, vision, and values that drive top‑line sales growth across retail and services. The EM will build a high‑performing team that consistently delivers exceptional guest experience while driving performance and profitability.
Responsibilities
Performance
- Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed store goals for services, boutiques, retail sales, guest loyalty, payroll, and shrink.
- Drive profitability through operational excellence, top‑line sales growth, and expense control.
- Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets to support scheduling and communication with the GM for productivity and sales goals.
- Develop strategies to improve underperforming metrics across services, boutiques, retail sales, loyalty, and audit results.
- Support direct reports in developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services and apply that knowledge to better serve guests.
- Maintain attendance as required and hold associates accountable to Ulta Beauty’s attendance policy.
People
- Attract, hire, retain, and source a diverse top talent team for salons and boutiques.
- Build a highly engaged team that embodies the Ulta Beauty brand through effective collaboration and open communication.
- Create an inclusive environment that encourages growth and engagement.
- Support all aspects of manager and associate development, including training, coaching, performance reviews, and succession planning.
- Ensure direct reports regularly participate in ongoing training, including brand and category education.
- Establish relationships with peer leaders and brand partners to collaboratively deliver on sales and service goals.
- Model teamwork and guest service excellence, providing clear direction and support.
- Execute the Guest Engagement Leader program flawlessly across all Annual Performance Goals metrics.
Process
- Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards, including the Infection Control Policy.
- Adhere to the company dress code.
- Use the scheduling tool to create and adjust schedules, manage attendance, and support service sales and growth.
- Use the task management tool to prioritize and execute store workload, including marketing resets, pricing updates, inventory tasks, cleaning, and replenishment.
- Protect company assets and minimize loss by meeting store standards for safety, inventory, cash management, and loss prevention.
- Execute day‑to‑day inventory control processes and report theft as required.
- Support continuous improvement by adopting company initiatives and technology.
- Communicate business trends and opportunities to field and services leadership.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Cosmetology license and/or cosmetology management license where required by state law.
Experience
- 2‑3+ years of fast‑paced retail management or relevant experience.
- Financial management experience: driving top‑line sales, interpreting reports, managing payroll budgets, and controlling expenses.
- Cosmetology management: advanced competency in services, guest experience, and product attachment, with knowledge of cosmetology regulations.
- Retail management: proven ability to monitor inventory, achieve operational excellence, and drive a service culture.
- Leadership management: experience attracting, developing, and motivating talent and leading change initiatives.
Skills
- Proficient with basic technology (POS, Microsoft Office, Apple devices).
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, use sound judgment, and adapt to change.
Special Position Requirements
- Work a flexible, full‑time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Attend corporate business meetings and conferences.
Working Conditions
- Continuous mobility throughout the store during shift.
- Frequent standing, bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Frequent lifting or moving up to 25 lbs.
