Procurement at Trident is a strategic function that drives cost efficiency, quality, risk management and business success. The department supports sourcing for engineering materials in Alaska and critical parts for the fleet, playing a vital role in operational performance and risk management. Today, Procurement is evolving from a transactional function to a strategic, innovative partner that adds value to the business.
Position Summary
The Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement process for MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) categories and capital expenditures, ensuring timely delivery, optimal cost, and adherence to quality standards. The role requires a strategic approach to sourcing, negotiation, and contract management with a focus on long-term value and risk mitigation.
We seek a highly skilled candidate with strong indirect procurement experience (MRO, CapEx), supply chain management expertise, excellent negotiation skills, and strong attention to detail. The role offers the opportunity to develop strategy in the capital expenditures space, build key relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and drive positive change and efficiencies.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for MRO and capital projects to optimize costs, quality and supplier performance.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate capabilities based on quality, cost, delivery time and financial stability.
- Negotiate contracts to achieve favorable pricing, terms and conditions; manage contract renewals or amendments in alignment with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and develop procurement plans aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance using KPIs and address issues or risks proactively.
- Manage the procurement budget and identify cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier consolidation, volume discounts and long-term agreements.
- Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions and technological advancements to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, including regular performance reviews and partnerships to enhance value creation.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures; conduct regular audits to address compliance gaps.
Salary This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $120k to $155k.

Initial PTO starts at 20 days per year, with adjustments based on experience. Commuter and transit programs are available. This is an on-site position based at the Trident Support Center in Seattle's Ballard neighborhood, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
In-office work is performed in a typical environment with temperature control and adequate lighting. Remote workers should provide an appropriate home office space.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in indirect sourcing (MRO, CapEx).
- Bachelorβs degree in business, supply chain management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven track record of driving change and achieving significant savings and efficiencies.
- Knowledge of project management best practices and methodologies.
- Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Proven ability to develop and implement sourcing strategies.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.
Preferred
- Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
- Analytical with problem-solving abilities; results-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Commercially and financially aware with attention to detail.
- Experience with Procure-to-Pay ERP processes and enhancements.
