Lead Windows Administrator with Security Clearance

The Lead Windows Administrator will oversee endpoint management and IT workflows, ensuring a secure and seamless end‑user experience. Responsibilities include leading patch management, software deployment, encryption, and automation activities; ensuring patches are thoroughly tested for functionality, compatibility, and potential conflicts with existing infrastructure and applications; proactively monitoring and addressing security vulnerabilities in close collaboration with security teams; and optimizing device provisioning, patch management, encryption management, and software deployment through scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Ansible, SCCM, and Intune. The role requires onsite presence at the government building in downtown Washington, DC five (5) days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Lead patch management, ensuring thorough testing and compatibility with existing systems.
  • Deploy software, manage encryption, and drive automation of IT workflows.
  • Monitor and mitigate security vulnerabilities in collaboration with security teams.
  • Leverage scripting tools (PowerShell, Ansible, SCCM, Intune) to optimize desktop engineering processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related discipline.
  • CompTIA A+ certification, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or equivalent.
  • 5–8 years of experience as an individual contributor in a related area.
  • Expert-level experience in Windows workstation support, imaging, patch management, COTS and GOTS software deployment, encryption, and automation.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Active Directory architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Desktop and Server operating systems and related technologies.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for task automation and management.
  • Strong experience with Group Policy management and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and ability to implement security measures within Active Directory.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery solutions for Active Directory.
  • Proven experience in BIOS management, BitLocker or encryption at rest, Microsoft administrative tools, M365 and Azure management and reporting systems, COTS application support, system administration for Microsoft Enterprise management systems, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Intune, and Entra AD.
