Software Development Director (JoinOCI-Leader)

JoinOCI’s Compute Control Plane team in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead a fast-growing team based in Nashville, TN. The role will focus on scaling services, delivering critical features for customers, and leading the development of automated CI/CD pipelines to minimize human intervention and support new hardware platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire, and develop a high‑performing engineering organization, ensuring continuous professional growth for staff.
• Oversee software architecture, development, debugging, and enhancements in line with business requirements.
• Define and execute the technology roadmap and operational strategies for compute cloud region build‑out, aligning with OCI priorities.
• Build and maintain an operational support structure, including on‑call rotations, incident resolution, and post‑mortem analysis.
• Communicate forward‑looking plans and project outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders.
• Drive hiring initiatives and talent development, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in complex engineering or technical programs, with at least 5 years as a people manager managing other managers.
• Strong hands‑on technical background in software development, cloud technologies, infrastructure automation, and cloud compute systems.
• Proven ability to define and execute long‑term strategic and operational roadmaps for large‑scale technical organizations.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience collaborating across globally distributed teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (advanced degrees or project/program management certifications preferred).
• Passion for creating world‑class engineering organizations and a mindset for fostering excellence at every level.
