The Senior Financial Analyst reports to the Manager, Finance Capital and will work on‑site in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the financial planning, analysis, review of actual expenditures, governance, and reporting of one or more Marine Operations projects. The role reviews budgets, actual expenditures and projections of future spend, including labor hours, rates, and third‑party goods and services.
Applicants should demonstrate initiative, independent judgment, and leadership in financial activities such as planning, forecasting, analysis, project assessment, preliminary cost estimates, and governance.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain financial plans and forecasts (including spending curves), ensuring all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and budgeted.
- Provide financial analysis for each project and report findings in a timely manner, ensuring risks and issues are reviewed and resolved in collaboration with internal and external constituents.
- Interact frequently with CAR Managers and Global Marine Operations (GMO) Leadership to ensure timely and accurate project plans and forecasts.
- Ensure all aspects of a project comply with corporate policies and procedures, including proper Capital Project Approvals for new and amended initiatives as well as proper capitalization of expenses.
- Provide support, guidance, and training on the financial aspects of a project to the respective project team members.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as required for GMO leadership, Corporate Accounting, and Capital Planning.
- Assist with the department’s G&A budget.
- Conduct ad‑hoc analysis of capital projects, expenditures, and project scope, as required.
- Audit capital projects for compliance and communicate concerns to the Senior Manager, Finance.
- Actively participate in the development and update of the Capital plan.
- Develop and implement GMO financial procedures and standards as needed.
- Ensure efficient utilization of staff and non‑labor resources.
- Review project scheduling and resource allocation output.
- Review and approve CAR‑related journal entries prepared by Financial Analyst.
- Identify expense optimization opportunities.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge And Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related major, Finance or Accounting preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related work experience.
- Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities.
- IT Finance or technology‑related experience highly preferred.
- Solid understanding of Marine related estimation activities preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and good spreadsheet skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint; Visio preferred.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work under tight timelines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience utilizing project plans, issue logs, and risk/mitigation strategies preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management; ability to work with all organization levels.
- Clear understanding of capital vs. non‑capital expenditures.
- Accepts accountability and manages execution.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities and alignment to organizational goals.
Physical Demands
The role requires sitting, standing, writing, reviewing, typing, operating a computer, and occasional lifting of 10–15 pounds. Occasionally walking along the dock and ascending/descending vessels may be required.
