REPORTS TO: President and VP of Ministry & Operations
Operations at Reaching & Teaching exists to steward the people and resources entrusted to the organization by implementing processes and policies that prioritize faithfulness, enabling the local church to send and support for the sake of the gospel and the glory of God.
The Director of Operations & Finance collaborates with the Vice President of Ministry & Operations to develop and implement strategies for the organization’s operational activities, with a focus on enhancing efficiency, productivity, and faithfulness. This management role involves setting policies, managing processes, and implementing systems to drive continuous improvement within RTIM, in a manner consistent with the organization’s purpose, core values, and mission statement. The Director of Operations will serve within the Operations Department and report to the VP of Ministry & Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To oversee and manage the Finance Department to:
- Review financial reports for accuracy, forecasting financial performance, and managing budget to actuals
- Develop and oversee G & A budgets
- Manage bank accounts:
- Ensure efficient cash management
- Collaborate with Development on donation receiving accounts (as needed)
- Managing compliance with the IRS as well as implementing financial policies and procedures
- Ensure payroll compliance and oversee payroll process, reviewing & approving:
- Salary adjustments
- Deployment Funds
- Emergency supplement requests
- Primary vehicle purchase or replacement
- Coordinate annual third-party audit process and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Hires and supervises Finance staff, manages accountants, and payroll personnel
- Strategize with RTIM senior leadership to support strategic decision‑making and define organizational objectives
- Provide direction and oversight on alternative payment methods (RTIM LLCs, business platform partnerships, grant agreements, etc.)
- To oversee and manage HR by:
- Ensuring policies are compliant and followed
- Developing & overseeing onboarding & training for new Staff and Global Workers
- Establish pay scales, oversee hiring pipelines, and manage the assessment process
- Manage HR consulting relationships (i.e., contracted specialists) and resources
- Manage day‑to‑day operations across the organization:
- Serve as the Staff’s primary point of contact in Operations
- Ensure the expense reimbursement process is compliant and reports are reviewed & processed on schedule in collaboration with Finance
- Coordinate with Finance and Access & Deployment to ensure grant agreements are compliant, funds disbursed, & reporting is completed
- Provide operations support for Practicum and Global Internship
- Provide direct supervision to Operations Managers, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with interviews & vetting applicants for the role
- Onboarding & training new Operations Managers
- Providing directives & assigning ongoing operations duties
- Conduct annual employee reviews & ongoing performance feedback
- Organizing & leading meetings as needed
- Promote collaboration with HR, Access & Deployment, & Long‑term
- Oversee Information & Technology, including:
- Supervise the IT Manager
- Ensure management of RTIM’s systems & platforms
- Assist VP of Ministry & Operations with Quality Control initiative, including:
- Ensure operational excellence across all departments by developing a feedback loop and evaluative method to identify, develop, and strengthen processes, systems, and practices
- Ensure onboarding/training, deployment, & re‑deployment processes and resources are efficient and accomplish RTIM’s objectives
- Domestic and International travel as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Employee shall maintain membership in a local church with beliefs that RTIM determines to be consistent with RTIM’s statements of faith
- Employee shall perform all duties consistent with RTIM’s theological beliefs and standards as reflected in its statements of faith
- Employee shall annually affirm in writing and without reservation RTIM’s statements of faith
- CPA or MBA (preferred)
- Experience in financial reporting
- Exemplifies humble, loving, servant leadership
- Keeps a careful watch over life and ministry
- Self‑motivated, disciplined, and responsible
- Team player & works well with people with different personalities and dispositions
- Excels in administration and is an excellent communicator
- Competency in relevant software platforms (i.e., QBO, Asana, Notion, Microsoft Suite, etc.)
- Works well in a virtual office environment
- Willing to make hard decisions
