Purpose of Position
The Director, FP&A is a key leadership role on the Finance team for FlightSafety International, a Berkshire Hathaway company. This position leads all financial analysis efforts in support of strategic and tactical decision making by functional leaders and the Senior Leadership Team, and is responsible for directing and leading the forecasting, reporting, analysis, and budgeting activities for assigned areas, sales pipeline deal and financial return analysis. The role also supports financial consolidation for FlightSafety divisions and plays a critical part in maturing the company’s financial posture.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Owns the preparation of the 10‑Year Financial plan for the Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors.
- Manages the weekly forecasting process, acting as a trusted advisor to business partners to gain insight on market, business and operational direction.
- Leads and mentors team members who prepare and analyze operating and departmental actual results, forecasts and budgets.
- Analyzes variance between actuals, forecast and budget to identify key drivers and associated risks.
- Prepares clear, concise, executive‑level presentations for Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Facilitates or participates in cross‑functional teams, influencing mid‑to‑long‑term decisions and driving collaboration among groups.
- Develops conceptual ideas into projects that aid business decision‑making.
- Proactively monitors trends to identify risks and opportunities across various cost drivers.
- Establishes benchmarks to assist leadership in managing fiscal discipline.
- Drives operational improvement and influences cost containment efforts across functional areas.
- Prepares sales deal analysis and options in partnership with the Sales team.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business.
Minimum Experience
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing industry preferred.
