    • Monitor patients during the procedure to ensure comfort and correct electrode placement.
    • Record, analyze, and assess the EKG results for abnormalities, such as arrhythmias, heart blockages, or other cardiac issues.
    • Follow all safety and procedural guidelines to ensure high-quality, accurate results.
  2. Patient Preparation and Communication :
    • Explain the EKG procedure to patients to ensure understanding and reduce anxiety.
    • Assist patients in positioning for the test, typically either lying down or sitting.
    • Monitor patients during testing for any signs of distress or discomfort, and adjust the process if necessary.
    • Provide basic instructions for the patient, such as remaining still and quiet during the test to avoid interference with the results.
  3. Equipment Maintenance and Operation :
    • Operate and maintain EKG machines and other related equipment to ensure functionality.
    • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or issues, and report problems to supervisors or medical technicians for resolution.
    • Clean and sterilize equipment as required to maintain safety and prevent cross-contamination.
    • Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance and testing to comply with health and safety standards.
  4. Data Documentation and Reporting :
    • Document all relevant patient information, including medical history and any special instructions for the procedure.
    • Record EKG results in the patient's medical records and ensure accurate data entry into the hospital or clinic's electronic health record (EHR) system.
    • Flag and report any abnormal or unusual results to the physician or supervising healthcare professional for further evaluation.
    • Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  5. Collaboration with Healthcare Team :
    • Work closely with physicians, cardiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure the accuracy of tests and assist in diagnosis.
    • Communicate any changes in patient condition or test results promptly to the medical team.
    • Provide feedback on patient status and assist in other diagnostic procedures as needed.
  6. Quality Control and Compliance :
    • Follow all applicable healthcare regulations and best practices, including those set by HIPAA and OSHA .
    • Ensure proper documentation and follow protocols to comply with industry standards and patient safety requirements.
    • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with advancements in EKG technology and cardiac care.
  7. Patient Follow-up :
    • Provide follow-up instructions to patients, such as advising them to contact their physician for test results or if they experience symptoms after the test.
    • Ensure patients know when and how to follow up if necessary, particularly if the results suggest further testing is required.
