Description
The Prior Authorization Technician role involves assisting in the authorization process for medications, working remotely on a contract basis.
The position requires handling requests, utilizing claims history, and collaborating with pharmacists and clinical programs as needed.
Proficiency in generic technology systems is essential.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB or NHA)
1 to 3 years of relevant experience
Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Available to work weekends and holidays
Minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute
Qualifications
Experience in PBM, managed care, hospital pharmacy, LTC pharmacy, home infusion pharmacy, or retail pharmacy preferred
Ability to interpret and apply clinical criteria
Proficiency in handling prior authorization requests
Strong communication skills for outbound and inbound calls
Experience with pharmacy and medical claims processing
Capability to direct requests to appropriate providers
Experience with appeals processing
