Overview

Join the Engagement Team at District 2 Portland‑Five Oak Branch Self Sufficiency Office to make a meaningful impact as a Family Coach.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews to determine family needs and eligibility, and complete program applications.
  • Engage clients to assess strengths and develop a case plan and steps toward self‑sufficiency.
  • Monitor progress and modify case plans as needed.
  • Participate in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, and supports job search.
  • Assist with crisis and safety planning for individuals experiencing domestic violence.
  • Link clients to community services and support resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in any field and one year of human services related experience.
  • OR Associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience.
  • OR Three years of human services related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, with alternate transportation available for ADA accommodations.

Essential Attributes

  • Experience interviewing clients to obtain personal and sensitive information.
  • Experience creating and maintaining written documentation of client activities.
  • Case management experience assessing customer strengths and service needs.
  • Capacity to communicate, establish boundaries and set realistic goals and milestones.
  • Experience explaining complex rules, regulations, processes and procedures in verbal and written communications, while demonstrating respect and preserving dignity.
