Overview
Join the Engagement Team at District 2 Portland‑Five Oak Branch Self Sufficiency Office to make a meaningful impact as a Family Coach.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews to determine family needs and eligibility, and complete program applications.
- Engage clients to assess strengths and develop a case plan and steps toward self‑sufficiency.
- Monitor progress and modify case plans as needed.
- Participate in case staffing, employment readiness, life skills training, and supports job search.
- Assist with crisis and safety planning for individuals experiencing domestic violence.
- Link clients to community services and support resources.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science, or a closely related field.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in any field and one year of human services related experience.
- OR Associate degree in Behavioral Science, Social Science or a closely related field AND two years of human services related experience.
- OR Three years of human services related experience.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, with alternate transportation available for ADA accommodations.
Essential Attributes
- Experience interviewing clients to obtain personal and sensitive information.
- Experience creating and maintaining written documentation of client activities.
- Case management experience assessing customer strengths and service needs.
- Capacity to communicate, establish boundaries and set realistic goals and milestones.
- Experience explaining complex rules, regulations, processes and procedures in verbal and written communications, while demonstrating respect and preserving dignity.
