Job description
- Handle a diverse caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys
- Conduct thorough factual investigations of actual and potential claims
- Perform comprehensive legal research and draft well-reasoned and well-articulated legal memorandums, motions, and briefs
- Prepare high-quality pleadings, motions, and discovery materials demonstrating an extreme attention to detail, a high quality of prose, and a meaningful contribution toward strategic goals
- Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts
- Represent clients in court proceedings and argue effectively before judges
- Assist in trial preparation, including witness preparation and evidence organization
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop effective litigation strategies
- Maintain accurate and organized case files and documentation
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to Missouri Bar (additional Kansas Bar admission soon after hiring)
- 24+ years of experience practicing law following bar admission (prior civil litigation experience is a plus)
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in legal research and writing
- Strategic and analytical thinking with attention to detail and the "big picture"
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
- Willingness to travel, albeit infrequently
