Role Overview
A Director of Sourcing will lead commercial managers in procuring and managing logistics services for RYAM shipments and facilities, driving annual cost‑reduction targets, and shaping global logistics strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of commercial managers for procurement and management of logistics services.
- Deliver annual cost‑reduction targets and develop strategies to optimize transportation and production requirements.
- Negotiate and manage transportation service agreements, freight rates, terms, and documentation for domestic and international commerce.
- Act as subject‑matter expert in logistics markets, monitor market dynamics, and communicate impacts to stakeholders.
- Develop business strategy, long‑term planning, annual budgets, and monthly forecasts.
- Oversee contract preparation consistent with RYAM policies and ensure required approvals are obtained before purchase commitments.
- Manage processes to achieve cost‑effective, on‑time, damage‑free delivery of RYAM products and rationalize supplier base.
- Recommend long‑range logistics strategies, identify joint cost‑reduction initiatives, and seize business opportunities with suppliers.
- Standardize procedures, share best practices, provide coaching, and lead administrative activities supporting the commercial and operational function.
- Collaborate with customers, Sales, and SIOP teams to develop logistics strategies related to modes, storage, and inventory levels, and maintain cost‑savings records in the tracking tool.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA or master’s in Transportation Management preferred.
- At least 15 years of experience in the logistics industry.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international logistics, Customs Brokerage, Incoterms, transportation regulations, finance and accounting principles, and order flow management.
- Awareness of international culture and business practices.
