MUSC Health HR Business Partner

MUSC Health is South Carolina’s only comprehensive academic health system with over 18 hospitals and 30,000 employees statewide. This role supports our front‑line healthcare workers as a strategic and operational human resources leader for the University Medical Associates (UMA) client group in Charleston, SC.

Position Highlights

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • Primarily Monday through Friday schedule, with flexibility based on client needs
  • Based in Charleston, SC
  • Hybrid opportunity – combination of in‑office and telework

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with department leaders to understand specific recruiting needs and partner with the talent acquisition function to develop plans for hiring qualified candidates, including creating screening tools and innovative interview methods.
  • Improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention by collaborating with management and care team members.
  • Partner with managers to review job descriptions, ensure proper classification, and assist with market data review to ensure fair compensation practices.
  • Provide guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  • Analyze trends and develop metrics in partnership with other HR functions to meet key business objectives.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Partner with employee relations to provide guidance and counsel on corrective actions, employee engagement, investigations, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of experience in Human Resources or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to coach managers and team members.
  • Strong consulting skills across HR functions.
  • Preferred healthcare industry experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.

Physical Requirements

Standard physical requirements: standing, walking, sitting; ability to bend, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions; perform repetitive motions; lift up to 20 lbs unassisted and up to 15 lbs overhead. Work in a latex‑safe environment and indoors. Frequently lift/carry 20 lbs. Rarely work in dusty or confined spaces.
