BCHS has 330 beds, 2,100 employees, 360 professional staff, more than 300 volunteers, and an annual budget of $270M. BCHS provides a full range of inpatient and outpatient services to over 150,000 residents and delivers acute care and specialty programs for Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and surrounding communities. There is an ongoing Emergency Department Renovation Improvement Project and a recent approval to build a new hospital.

The CoS & VPMAA will serve as a cornerstone of clinical and organizational leadership. The role reports to the Board of Directors on quality and safety of medical diagnosis, care and treatment and is a member of the senior leadership team accountable to the President & Chief Executive Officer for providing administrative medical leadership to support BCHSโ€™s Mission, Vision and Values. The CoS & VPMAA will help forge a progressive ten-year vision for medical care and clinical services, contribute to the redevelopment of a new hospital, the clinical services plan, and the deployment of a Health Information System. The role will foster collaborative relationships to create a clinical practice environment that is leading practice, ethical, safe, resource-efficient, and patient- and family-centered.

Key responsibilities include leading the Medical Advisory Committee, ensuring compliance with legislation and hospital bylaws, overseeing credentialing and privileging, supporting medical education and research, and maintaining oversight of clinical standards. The CoS & VPMAA will integrate clinical, educational, and community priorities into BCHSโ€™s strategy, strengthening regional influence and contributing to Ontario Health Team initiatives, population health, academic vision, and the BCHS-McMaster University affiliation.

A minimum of five years of medical leadership experience within a large community or academic centre is required, with demonstrated expertise in quality improvement and cultural safety for diverse populations. The candidate will be visionary, patient experience focused, and capable of guiding high-performing teams, fostering shared decision-making, and mentoring physicians. They must be licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, hold Royal College or College of Family Physicians certification, and be eligible for active privileges at BCHS. A masterโ€™s degree in administration, quality improvement, or a health-related discipline is preferred.
