Job Description

Planned Parenthood of Illinois provided pay range: $100,000.00/yr - $107,000.00/yr

The Political Director leads the development and execution of Planned Parenthood of Illinois’ (PPIL) and Planned Parenthood Illinois Action’s (PPIA) political, legislative, and advocacy strategies.

Responsibilities

• Co-Lead and manage the Public Policy and Advocacy team
• Develop and direct strategies to build political power for PPIL, PPIA, and PPIA PAC
• Manage and engage in direct lobbying efforts
• Support legislative advocacy efforts
• Organize and implement electoral and grassroots organizing efforts
• Ensure compliance with state and federal lobbying and election laws
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
• Maintain and elevate the organization's reputation
• Oversee department finances and budgets
• Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team
• Serve as a spokesperson on public policy issues
• Support Development team efforts

Other Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and strategic support to the PPIA Board
• Represent PPIL and PPIA in coalition spaces
• Plan and execute annual lobby days in Springfield
• Maintain a deep and current understanding of key policy issues
• Collaborate cross-functionally with other PPIL departments

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Public Policy, Public Administrations, Political Science, or related field preferred
• Minimum 5-8 years’ experience in policy analysis, development, advocacy, and government affairs
• Strong communication, research, analytical, and strategic planning skills
• Experience working collaboratively with community or government partners
• Excellent analytical, writing, presentation, and oral communication skills
